(No matter how I looked at the title "Hometown that has lost its face", I wondered what I should write about. I had always been in this country ever since I was born, I had not stayed overseas for a long period of time, I did not notice the big changes that had happened here. I swam in the swimming pool with my elder sister and my father when I was young. Sometimes, there were times when we swam in the sea. After lunch at school, I would play hopscotch with my friends and we would also run around. After classes had ended, I would go to my friend's house where I skated here and there on roller skates. Occasionally, we would go ice-skating at the ice-skating place in Jurong. At that time, 4 people could skate for an unlimited time for 10 dollars. Thanks to this title, I thought back upon the past.)
大人になって、仕事に追われ、プールや海なんて行かなくなった。石蹴りなんか全くなくなった。そういえば、数年前、砂に覆（おお）われた遊び場でぶらんこに乗って遊んだ。今の遊び場を見ると、砂はゴムの床に変わって、ぶらんこも消えた。何でだろう。すごく楽しいのに。以前のアイススケート場はもうなくなってしまった。新しい場所ができたけれど、もっと高い料金を払わないと、楽しんで遊べない。１０ドルの料金はもう昔々のことだ。ちなみに、ワックスの床でスケートをするのが人気があるそうだ。しかし、アイススケートのほうが楽しいと思う。感じは全く違う。このように、技術が進んでいく一方で、最近の子供たちは家でコンピュータに夢中で、外で遊ぶ回数が減っている。

Along with this, while the technology is advancing, the children nowadays engrossed themselves with their computers at home, thus, reducing the amount of times they spent playing outside.)
遊ぶことだけではなく、経済のために、地方からの外国人を雇っているので、人口は飛躍（ひやく）的に増えている。多くの人を支える交通システムがまだ用意できていないので、過去に経験したことのない交通問題が様々ある。電車の故障といい、交通渋滞といい、不便な国になった。昔のように戻れば、いいかもしれないと思う。
