宇宙人について (Regarding Aliens)

　宇宙人には人間を恐らさせるところもあり、興味を持たせるところもあるようだ。宇宙人の存在を信じるかどうか、どちらの人間も多くいるようだが、私だったら、決められないことだ。いい点もあるし、悪い点もあるし、事実は本当なのやら偽物なのやら、人によって、様々な意見が出ている。情報だけを信じて、考え始めているということだ。

(    Aliens. There are times when they made people fear them, there are also times when they make people get interested in them. Whether to believe their existence or not, there are many people on either sides. If it's me, I can't decide. There are good points, as well as bad points. Whether the facts are true or false, there are various comments from different people. We can only start thinking by believing the available information.)

　昔、宇宙人のイメージは醜い顔で怪しい、変な体だった。技術の進歩のおかげで逆にきれいになって、美しい姿を現れる。それはマスメディアがうまく作ったという証明だ。

(    In the past, our ugly image of aliens makes them having strange and weird bodies. Thanks to the technology advancement, they become more beautiful and appear to be gorgeous. This is the proof of the improvement in mass media.)

　人間からすると、宇宙人はもっと素晴らしい技術を使っていると思われる。テレビや小説を見ると、そのようなことが分かるはずだ。何でそうだと思うだろう。技術を進めるために、皆に頑張る気持ちを与えたいからだと考えられる。

(    According to humans, we tend to think that aliens are using more awesome technology. Looking from television and novels, we should be able to understand that much. I wondered why we think that way. In order for the technology to advance, one is able to think that it is to give everyone the catalyst to work harder.)

　地球に征服欲を持つ宇宙人の映画は多くそうだ。例えば、人間はロボットとともに、一生懸命智恵を出して勝って、地球を救う。宇宙人が侵略する前に準備しているんだろうか。それとも、面白い話で、人の心を打ちたいのだろうか。

(    There seems to have many movies that showed the ambitious aliens which want to conquer the Earth. For example, together with robots, the humans fight with all their might and their wisdom and managed to win and save the Earth. Is this to prepare for the battle before aliens come to invade us? Or is it that the story is interesting and able to touch people's hearts?)

　あくまでも人間の理想にすぎないものの、まだ宇宙人に会ったことがないので、そちらの存在を勝手に無視したくない。とりあえず、信じようが、信じまいが、宇宙人がこの時代にいないと信じているからこそ、何も現代の我々に影響がないという訳だ。

(    Although all of these are just human's ideas, as I have yet to meet aliens, I don't want to be ignorant of their existence freely. Anyway, to believe or not to believe, as I believe that aliens are not in this generation, it means that nothing can affect us who are living today.)
